DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES  :

 The Department is a multidisciplinary organization engaged mainly in Monitoring Groundwater levels and quality, through Hydrographic network of piezometers for shallow and deeper aquifers in time and space. Total 50 piezometers and General Observation wells 64 were monitored in the district. The activities include Hydro-geological, Geophysical surveys for feasible sites for drilling of Bore wells / Tube wells to the farmer’s community of ST’s Under STSDF, for SC’s under SCSDF and Integrated Ground water surveys under WALTA for others.

  • Totally 50 piezometers and 64 Observation wells (Ground Water level monitoring stations) existing in 23 Mandal’s in the district.
  • Normal rainfall of the district up to February 2024 is737.3 mm.
  • The actual rainfall received up to February 2024 (2024-25) in the district is 905.6 mm, which is 23 % more to the normal up to month of February 2024, i.e.,737.3 mm.
  • The district average depth to ground water level for February 2025 is 5.97 meters below ground level (mbgl). The district average depth to ground water level for February 2024 was 8.28 meters below ground level (mbgl). The district average depth to ground water level for previous month January-2025 was 5.38 meters below ground level (mbgl).
  • An average annual raise of 2.31 mm is observed in the depth to water level for February 2025 (5.97 mm) when compared with February-2024(8.28 mm).
  • An average fall of 0.59 m is observed in the depth to water level to the previous month i.e., for January-2025 (5.38 m) when compared with February-2025 (5.97 m).
  • The shallowest water level of 0.68 mbgl is recorded at Urlaguda  piezometer of  Mothey Mandal during the month.
  • The deepest water level of 22.53 mbgl is recorded in the Thatipamula piezometer of  Thirumalagiri Mandal during the month.
