PROFILE OF THE STATE AUDIT DEPARTMENT
AUDIT PROFILE:
The Government have permitted the Director of State Audit, Telangana, Hyderabad for conducting of audit on the accounts of all the Local Bodies like Panchayat Raj Institutions, Urban Local Bodies under rule 7 of State Audit Rules, 2000 and various other authorities such as Agriculture Market Committees, H.R. & C.E. Institutions etc., duly collecting the Audit fee as per their bylaws.
Accordingly, Audit Teams headed by Assistant Audit Officer have been constituted for conducting the audits as per the approved annual action plan by the Director of State Audit, Telangana. The Audit teams are working under the supervision of District Audit Officer, State Audit, Suryapet.

The annual action plan 2024-25 approved by the Director of State Audit, Telangana, Hyderabad and 100% target is achieved and the new action plan 2025-26 has approved recently by the Director of State Audit, Telangana, Hyderabad and the same is starting with PRI audits from the 16th of this month i.e. 16.06.2025.
From the audited year 2019-20, the State Audit Department introduced the online audit system in PRI audits as per the instructions of Government of India and State Government of Telangana as well. Since the introduction of the online audit system across the country, our State of Telangana ranks first in the country in conducting 100% PRI audits online. The Union Ministry of Panchayat Raj has lauded the Telangana State Audit Department for setting an example for other states in the country in conducting audit online.
Also, as part of the ambitious settlement of audit objections special drive undertaken by the Director of State Audit, Telangana, Hyderabad based on the orders issued by the honorable Minister for Finance in the state, regarding PRIs, ULBs, AMCs and VIS in Suryapet District, out of 33135 number of audit objections pending, while 6619 number of replies have submitted on the initiative of the honorable District Collector and after scrutiny, 3863 number of objections have settled and 2756 no.of replies have returned on various reasons. The Special Drive generated revenue of Rs.3186537.00 for various Government Departments in Telangana and aforesaid institutions has benefited financially or regulated up to Rs.3,87,82,307. The Director of State Audit has also wish to continue the special drive this year as well to reduce the huge number of pending audit objections.
