Brief notes on GMC Suryapet
- Government Medical College, Suryapet was established in 2019 with 150 students under the approval of Medical Council of India. Consequently, admissions of 5th batch MBBS students are currently taken up in 2023 after successfully getting approval from the National Medical Commission. One batch has successfully completed and doing internship.
- There are boys’ and girls’ hostels in the college premises with a capacity of 1000 students spread over an area of 1 acre.
- PG courses were started in 2022 in 05 departments after approval from National Medical Commission, 14 seats were sanctioned and consequently admissions in 2023 with 2nd batch. From this year clinical subjects Obstetrics and Gynaecology 4 seats and ENT 4 seats are allotted.
- Sc. Allied Health Sciences courses were started in 04 departments with 40 students and consequently, the admissions were held in 2023 with the 2nd batch.
- Total Faculty in Government Medical College, Suryapet are as follows Regular Faculty (79), Contract Faculty (51), Senior Resident (44), Ministerial Staff (41), Outsourcing Staff (114), Security & Sanitation (38).
- A 600 bedded Government General Hospital caters to 650 to 700 patients everyday with full bed occupancy on any given day, experienced faculty giving state of art services to the patients, in our hospital rare and complicated surgeries, total knee replacements, high risk pregnancies are carried out on a regular basis.
- Government of Telangana has set up RTPCR lab and high-end laboratory services in Government Medical College / General Hospital Suryapet with Government collaboration, which is very useful for the services of poor patients attending Government General Hospital during pandemic.
- Government Medical College Suryapet has been identified as Adverse Drug Monitoring Centre by Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ghaziabad with the efforts of Department of Pharmacology.
- Government Medical College Suryapet organized several training programs (01) Curriculum Implementation Support Program (CISP) (02) Revised Basic Course Workshop (RBCW), (03) Social Awareness Programs.
